The pupils of the 9th classe in the La Salle School in Illertissen worked in the frame of the chemistry course in working groups about bread. In their presentations the 14th of March , the pupils told about the history of bread starting in the former Egypt and ending with historical survey about the meaning of bread in Rome and the French and Russian Revolutions . In a little excurse, they gave some information about the French baguette and why Germans never can produce white bread that tastes like the original in France. The main part was the comparison of traditional baked bread without any additives and the todays typical super marked bread containing a lot of different substances. They told about the reasons why the industry adds those substances and they invited the jury to taste three types of bread: cheap super marked bread, one made by the local bakery and the third was self made by one of the boys only with the traditional ingredients. The last was the one which the jury liked best!
Thanks to the boys for their nice work!
