SI Club Ruse, Bulgaria transferres the Urteig ( sourdough) to the SI Club Brasov, Romania

On 20th March, 2016, members of two friendly Soroptimist International clubs from Brashov, Romania and Ruse, Bulgaria met in Ruse to implement the first part of their joint project, titled “ To Nurture a Talent”. Education projects are a priority for SI clubs this year and during their meeting in Ruse, the two clubs from Ruse and Brashov declared their participation in another social project, “Bread, Wine and Herbs”, developed by the Association “Danube Networkers for Europe” (DANET) and its chairperson, Mrs. Carmen Stadelhofer. The project’s educational aspect relates to sharing knowledge about the bread culture in the countries along the River Danube and that is why it was embraced by the two clubs. As part of the accompanying project “Danube Bread on Tour”, Milena Popova, President of SI Ruse, handed a special piece of sourdough, which has travelled all the way from Germany and was brought to Bulgaria by Frau Stadehofer herself. The sourdough will be multiplied by both clubs and used to make bread and talk about its significance in the everyday life of people and in their special holiday time. Rodica Maciuca, from SI club Brashov accepted the sourdough and shared some ideas of her club for events under the project. The two clubs agreed to exchange bread recipes and share the special breads of their two countries. Each recipe will be accompanied by its story, which will be told to the participants in the bread-sharing events in the two cities. The most successful recipes will be used for preparing some bread for the Breakfast on the Danube in Ulm, in July, 2016.
